Three Threads
What a cacao ceremony revealed about connection, letting go and becoming more fully ourselves
I’m writing this in the lingering energy of a beautiful cacao ceremony sat under the stars of the Byron Bay hinterland.
And while there were so many beautiful threads woven throughout the experience, I feel as if there are three themes which came through very strongly for me. And I’m feeling called to share them with you as I have a feeling this speaks to more than just my personal experience.
Connection
The first thread is connection.
Connection with self and with one another.
I’m feeling such a strong pull to be more intentional in carving out time and space to connect inwards, through ceremony and ritual like sitting cacao, or tea, but also through meditation, nature, yoga and spiritual practices. And of equal importance, carving out time and space to connect outwards. To nurture friendship, community and the kind of spaces that foster genuine connection.
I know for me personally, I’m very grateful to live in an area that has an abundance of beautiful events, but in all honesty, I don’t always make the most of this.
The experience last night showed me the magic of gathering together in community. Of being in spaces that foster connection. Connection with ourselves. Connection with nature. Connection with one another.
Letting go
The second thread speaks strongly to letting go and shedding old layers.
Letting go of roles we’ve outgrown.
Letting go of contorting ourselves to fit into what is expected.
Letting go of caring what people think at the cost of being ourselves.
Letting go of making ourselves smaller so that others feel more comfortable.
Letting go of people and places that ask us to be less than who we are.
And this naturally leads into the third thread…
Individuation
No longer hiding. No longer pretending. No longer playing the game.
Simply showing up as ourselves knowing we have nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of.
It feels less like needing to convince people, and more like quietly standing strong in who you are.
This is me.
I’m no longer asking for permission to be me.
And if this isn’t for you, that’s okay.
And I think for a long time, we’ve thought this to be self-centred. We’ve thought we need to put everyone else’s needs and comfort above our own and that doing so is better for the community. But what I’m realising is that perhaps the greatest gift we can offer to our community, is to be ourselves.
And as I reflect on these three threads, it feels so beautifully synced to the nodal shift we’re moving through this weekend.
Over the last 18 months we’ve journeyed with the collective North Node in dreamy, ethereal Pisces and the South Node in grounded, practical Virgo. This season has asked us to surrender control, let go of perfectionism and move into a deeper relationship with intuition, trust and spirituality.
And here we stand at the threshold of the next 18 months with the North Node moving into visionary Aquarius and the South Node into heart-led Leo.
And to me, this next chapter feels like an invitation.
An invitation to release the parts of ourselves that perform for approval, and instead embrace what makes us different.
An invitation to find our people, not by trying to belong everywhere, but by belonging more deeply to ourselves.
An invitation to contribute to community, not through performance, but through authenticity.
An invitation to stop contorting ourselves into who we think we should be, and instead trusting that who we are is already enough.
And as I reflect on all of this, I notice this underlying thread woven throughout everything...
Courage.
Lion’s courage.
The courage to connect.
The courage to let go.
The courage to become yourself.
Until next time,
